My name is John Ryan. Welcome to my site. I written narrative, fiction, and online content for games, including Project Gotham Racing 4, Zoo Tycoon 2, Fable 2, and Guild Wars 2.  I was an editor and lore keeper for Bungie for Destiny, particularly for House of Wolves and The Taken King. Recently, I was the lead writer and editor for Forza Motorsport 7. Currently, I’m the narrative developer for Hyperspace XR and the lead writer for their VR experience Wonderfall: Tale of Two Realms.

Every game—big or small—can have a great story. It’s all a matter of finding the proper balance between character, narrative gameplay, and plot. I’ve been lucky to be a part of the gaming industry since 2007, and I believe we’re seeing only the beginning in defining not only what a “game” is, but also how to tell engaging stories as well.

I strive to be part of this evolution in narrative. I love building worlds, fantastic yet intimate. I enjoy the challenge of crafting the lore for these wondrous places, and I find happiness in creating the people who live and breathe there.
